W to electron and neutrino from 2011

McCauley, Thomas

Dataset Derived Education CMS CERN-LHC Parent Dataset: Datasets derived from the Run2011A SingleElectron, SingleMu, DoubleElectron, and DoubleMu primary datasets

Description

This document contains 100k events where one electron candidate was observed and missing energy implies to the presence of a neutrino. The data was selected from the primary dataset SingleElectron 2011. These data were selected for use in education and outreach and contain a subset of the total event information. They are not suitable for a full physics analysis.

Dataset semantics

Variable Description
Run The run number of the event.
Event The event number.
pt The transverse momentum of the electron (GeV).
eta The pseudorapidity of the electron.
phi The phi angle of the electron (rad).
Q The charge of the electron.
type Either EB or EE: whether the electron is in the barrel or in the endcap.
delEta The difference in eta between the electron track and the associated cluster in the ECAL (rad).
delPhi The difference in phi between the electron track and the associated cluster in the ECAL (rad).
sigmaEtaEta The weighted cluster rms along eta for an electron.
HoverE The energy of the electron in the HCAL divided by the energy of the electron in the ECAL.
isoTrack The isolation variable for the electron in the tracker.
isoEcal The isolation variable for the electron in the ECAL.
isoHcal The isolation variable for the electron in the HCAL.
MET The missing transverse momentum of the event (GeV).
phiMET The phi angle of the missing transverse momentum (rad).

How were these data selected?

An event was selected if there is was one electron in the event with pT > 25.0 GeV. Furthermore, the event was rejected if there was a second electron present with pT > 20 GeV.

How can you use these data?

Comma-separated value (csv) files can be used in online applications such as the histogram visualizer and other applications, examples are given in
