ATLAS Collaboration
Dataset Derived Masterclass ATLAS CERN-LHC
A dataset of 1000 events taken in 2011 by the ATLAS Detector, used in the Physics Masterclasses W Path
The dataset can be analysed by using MINERVA, which can be found on the linked site in the section "Measurement". There you will also find a tally sheet and links to instructions on how to analyse the data found in the dataset. The section "Identifying Pariticles" will show how to find out which detector signature hints at which particle. "Identifying Events" details how to categorise events. Using the knowledge of these two sections, one can use the prescriptions in "Measurement" to find out how the proton is structured and to hunt for the Higgs particle.
The open data are released under the Creative Commons CC0 waiver. Neither the experiment(s) ( ATLAS ) nor CERN endorse any works, scientific or otherwise, produced using these data. All releases will have a unique DOI that you are requested to cite in any applications or publications.
